What Can You Get for a Dollar?

A dollar these days can hardly buy one person anything, but add up a dollar a day every month from many dedicated Pulse listeners… and you can support a whole station!  It really is a beautiful relationship between the mission and its supporters when you think about it.  Our community NEEDS 100% Positive Music, and we NEED the community to provide it.

So Pulse 99.5FM is asking you for a dollar a day (or $30 per month) to keep the mission of 100% Positive Music alive.  Give here

There are a lot of ways to find room for a dollar a day in your budget… here are five things you can get for around a dollar:

1. A cup of coffee (brew at home; it’s less expensive that way!)

2. Skip the soda.  Cutting down on sugar is good for you, and so is supporting Pulse music!

3. Driving six fewer miles in an average car saves you about a dollar!

4. The daily paper (lets face it, we all get our news online anyway).

5. Lottery ticket (though if you do decide to get one of these, you can always share the winnings with your favorite station!)

However you budget that extra dollar per day, know that this small sacrifice on your end goes a long way for your station!

We rely heavily on our monthly donors and as a thank you, this April we are offering something special when you make a monthly pledge of $30 or more.  Dave with Pulse Mornings has created the Streamsbook, a chronological book of all the Gospels combined (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John).  It’s the story of Jesus’ time on Earth, segmented into 40 days of reading, and is a great study tool to either use for yourself or share it with a friend!

To make a pledge, just click here, and thanks again for giving to 100% Positive Music for Des Moines and Central Iowa!

Share. Support. WIN!

Want to win tickets to see tobyMac, Jamie Grace and Tenth Avenue North before you can buy them as they kick off the Iowa State Fair concert series this August?  When you share your story and/or support your station this week, you’ll have your chance to go to the show for free!

At Pulse 99.5FM, we believe in the power of music.  Hearing a song from ‘back in the day’ and having it trigger a memory is similar to how our sense of smell can take us to specific moments in time.  The way the sound of a song lifts our spirits, and the way we have ‘instant recall’ on the positive lyrics… it’s a unique experience.

We believe in using Pulse Music, which is cool, relevant and honest, to bring truth to younger generations in central Iowa.  And it’s working!  We receive emails, Facebook messages, voicemails and more on a daily basis letting us know how Pulse 99.5FM is making a difference.

Will you join us?  Pulse 99.5FM is listener-supported, and your monthly gift helps Pulse Music impact thousands of lives in Des Moines and central Iowa!  We’re just over halfway to our need of $300,000 in advertising and donations for 2012.  Stand with your station: just go to www.pulse995.com/my-music-matters and click the donate button.

Oh, and those free tickets… we’re giving away tickets this Friday to the tobyMac/Jamie Grace/Tenth Avenue North concert on August 9, 2012.  When you make your pledge, and/or share your story before this Friday, we’ll automatically enter you into the drawing!

Thanks so much!  We can’t do it without you!

Halfway There!

Since it’s inception 18 years ago, Pulse 99.5FM has been funded largely by people just like you, who know that positive music sharing truth in an accessible way to a younger audience is vital to our community.

This month, we ask once again for your help.  It costs $300,000 per year to fund the Pulse 99.5FM mission (and that’s a tight budget!).  About 1/3 of our financing comes from loyal advertisers, and the rest is from people throughout the Des Moines and Central Iowa community.

When you give a dollar a day at $30 per month, it may not feel like a lot.  But when you join with hundreds of others who do the same, you’re truly making a difference in the lives of thousands!

There are almost half a million people living in the Greater Des Moines area.  Only about 500 support your station.  Our need is greater.  Will you stand with Pulse 99.5FM and make your pledge?  Your monthly gift matters!

As we continue our April fundraising efforts, we currently have just over half of our needed funding already pledged through donations and advertising.  But we have $145,000 left to go, and we can’t do it without you!

If Pulse music matters to you, click here to pledge your support.  Thank you for making a difference!

Grow in Faith Through Studying the Word

Having a family Bible gathering dust on a bookshelf is not a very good way to mature in faith.  One of the more common complaints I hear from my fellow Christian friends is that they “don’t read the Bible enough”.  This is a situation most of us can relate to.  Oftentimes, it is simply because sometimes the Bible can seem difficult to interpret or understand without guidance from a pastor, minister, teacher, etc.

Study Bibles offer an in depth look into the Scriptures and most offer questions for critical thinking, to help better absorb what you are reading.  You’d be surprised the difference a good Study Bible would make in your life.  They are so easy to understand and helpful for large and small groups as well!

Twila from Healing Touch Book and Bible provided us with a list of the Top 10 Study and Specialty Bibles:

1. Personal Size Giant Print Reference Bible (KJV) – Hendrickson

2. Life Application Study Bible (NIV) – Zondervan

3. Giant Print Reference Bible Personal Size (KJV) – Zondervan

4. Study Bible (NIV) – Zondevan

5. Study Bible (ESV) – Crossway

6. Study Bible (KJV) – Thomas Nelson

7. Study Bible (KJV) – Barbour

8. Personal Size Giant Print Reference Bible (NKJ) – Thomas Nelson

9. Quest Study Bible (NIV) – Zondervan

10. Life Application Study Bible (NLT) – Tyndale

You can find any and all of these Study Bibles (and more) at Healing Touch Book and Bible.  If you need help deciding which Study Bible is best for your needs, ask Twila or one of the helpful staff members.  Located in Altoona on 8th Street right next to the Sugar Shack.
